HOW TO GET THERE
The Haad Tien beach resort is at Thian Og Bay (Shark Bay), which lies on the southeast corner of Koh Tao, sheltered from the prevailing winds meaning that the weather is great throughout the year. The resort is approximately twenty-minutes by taxi from the ferry port of Mae Haad, or twenty-five minutes by taxi boat.
Haadtien shuttle bus
Koh Tao island pier is small and becomes a hive of activity when the ferry arrives. Our resort shuttle bus will be there waiting to pick our guests arriving at the pier. Please look out for our staff holding up Haadtien Beach Resort signs.
VIA KOH SAMUI
The flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui is only an hour and you get to pass through Koh Samui airport which is one of the most unique and picturesque airports in the world. Upon arrival at Koh Samui, you can arrange a transfer to Koh Tao through the airport information desk. The island can only be reached by boat as there is no airport on Koh Tao. We recommend that you take either the Lomprayah Catamaran, which leave twice daily for Koh Tao. Both operators offer environmentally friendly, efficient services. It is also worth noting that these two operators leave from different locations on Koh Samui, so be sure to check your ticket and get a road transfer from the airport to the appropriate ferry terminal. The hotel can arrange return trips, as the Haad Tien is a Seatran Agent.
VIA PHUKET&KRABI
You can travel overland to Suratthani, and then via boat to Koh Tao if you wish, but this in practice is a long and at times uncomfortable journey in a minibus. Boat options are very limited and the only direct boat is quite unreliable. The night boat leaves Suratthani every night at 11 pm. We therefore strongly recommend that you fly from Phuket or Krabi to Koh Samui and take the boat from there. Bangkok Airlines has daily scheduled flights from both destinations for your convenience.
VIA CHUMPHON
Flight to Chumphon, Nok Air and Air Asia fly from Don Muang airport in Bangkok. Then bus or van to pier then ferry to Koh Tao. Then transfer to their High Speed Catamaran taking another 1.5 - 2 hours to Koh Tao Mae Haad Pier.

Please also remember that travelling from Koh Samui to Koh Tao, the ferry stops at Koh Phangan on route and therefore you do not need to change boats. The ferry staff are friendly and will assist you with any queries. There is only one stop on the journey, so when you stop for a second time you have arrived. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours and while the boats are relatively small, the views are stunning so sit back and take them in. Be sure to have your camera at the ready too.
Once you arrive on Koh Tao at Mae Haad, (both operators arrive at the same location) one of our representatives will meet you from the boat and transfer you to the Haad Tien. Please ensure you advise us which operator you are using and your arrival time to allow us to facilitate the transfer.
